Fake Lotteries |
17 January 2012
Australians need to be more careful when they are informed about a lottery prize. Recently, crooks asked a man from Victoria to pay cash amount worth $55,000. They were in need of this amount recover the fake administration costs for winning a jackpot worth $4.5 million.
CAV i.e. Consumer Affairs Victoria reveled that this is the biggest lotto fraud ever happened. The victim further reveled that his spouse receives an e-mail regarding the jackpot winning.
Claire Noone, director of CAV commented, “We recommend the Australians to be extremely careful when they receive an e mail regarding massive amount winning. Specially, when they are asked to deposit some amount for availing their prize. This is so because the crook collects their money and run away without offering any prize.”
Another similar incident happened in Pakistan, where Pakistani lottery crooks targeted Pakistanis as well as Indians.
